The rules for using this site and for the membership sold on it.
SHUG (byshug.com) publishes Rabbit, Many Setbacks, and AI, a serial record edited from conversations between Shug and AI. It is written and operated from Japan by Shug ("we"). Shug is the name this publication is written and sold under. The registered business details behind it are disclosed on request, as set out on 特定商取引法に基づく表記.
Using the site, creating an account, or paying for a membership means these terms apply to you.

What Is Sold
A membership is a subscription giving access to members-only entries on this site for as long as it is active. Nothing is shipped, and nothing is sold as a separate downloadable product.
STANDARD costs $8 USD per month or $79 USD per year, and renews automatically until cancelled. Cancelling from the Account page stops the next renewal and leaves access in place until the end of the period already paid for.
Payments are not refunded once made, including for a period you are partway through. Charges that are our fault — duplicates, charges taken after cancelling, billing faults — are refunded in full.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's checkout and are not held by us.
Accounts
An account is identified by an email address, and signing in is done through a link sent to that address. Keep access to the address secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
One account is for one reader. Do not share sign-in links.
You can close an account at any time by writing to hi@byshug.com. Closing an account is not the same as cancelling a membership, which is done from the Account page.
The Text
Everything published here is written and edited work, and it remains ours. A membership buys access to read it. It does not transfer any rights in it.
You may quote short passages with attribution and a link.
You may not republish entries in full, post them elsewhere, put them behind another paywall, sell them, or feed them into a service that redistributes them. Automated bulk collection of the site is not permitted.
An account used to redistribute members-only entries is closed, and no refund is given.
What This Record Is
The entries are based on real events and real conversations, selected and edited into readable form. Details, including names of people, places and services, may be replaced with consistent alternatives.
The record is published while the events in it are still unresolved. It contains mistakes, changed positions and abandoned plans on purpose, and it is not corrected after the fact to make the outcome look better.
None of it is advice. Nothing here is financial, legal, medical or professional advice, and decisions you make after reading it are yours.
If you appear in an entry and something is wrong or should not be there, write to hi@byshug.com. It is read and acted on.
Availability
The site is provided as it is. Publication is regular but not guaranteed on any particular day, and the site may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Short interruptions are not grounds for a refund.
If publication ends while memberships are running, renewals are stopped so that no further payment is taken, and access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
Except where the law does not allow it to be limited, our liability for any claim connected with the site or a membership is limited to the amount paid in the twelve months before the claim.
Suspension
We may suspend or close an account that redistributes paid entries, attacks or overloads the site, attempts to gain access it is not entitled to, or is used to harass. A membership ended for one of these reasons is not refunded.
Changes
These terms can change. The date at the top says when they last did.
A change to the price of a membership is announced by email before it takes effect, and applies from the following billing period. If you do not want the new price, cancel before then.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Japan, and disputes are subject to the courts of Japan. This does not remove rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
