Refunds and Cancellations
Cancelling is instant. Refunds are limited, and the limits are set out here.
SHUG sells access to written entries that can be read immediately after payment. Digital content of that kind is not returned, so the policy is narrow on purpose and there is nothing hidden in it.

Cancelling
A membership can be cancelled at any time. Sign in, open Account, and cancel.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end the period you have already paid for: members-only entries stay readable until that period ends, and the account then returns to free and keeps working as a free account.
There is no cancellation fee and no minimum term.
The Policy
Payments are not refunded once made. That applies to a period you are partway through, to a renewal you meant to cancel and did not, and to time during which you did not read the entries. Cancel and the access simply runs to the end of the period you paid for.
What Is Refunded
Where the charge is our fault, it is refunded in full:
- A duplicate or repeated charge for the same period.
- A charge taken after you cancelled.
- A charge caused by a fault on this site or in its billing, including a wrong amount or a wrong billing period.
If a charge appears that you do not recognise, write before disputing it with your bank. Card statements show the payment through Stripe, and it is usually resolved in a day.
How to Ask
Email hi@byshug.com from the address on the membership, and say what was charged and when.
Requests are answered within 5 business days. An approved refund is returned to the original card through Stripe, and usually appears within 5 to 10 business days depending on the bank.
If the Publication Stops
If publication ends while memberships are running, renewals are stopped so that no further payment is taken. Access to members-only entries continues until the end of the period already paid for.
